Well, so much for this company fixing this mistake.. According to DeNeene Ford in the presidents office of PHH, our account was finally fixed and accurate and we shouldn't have any more issues...

I made our March 1, 2016 payment last week, PHH received it on Feb.19, 2016 and applied the entire payment to Principal, showing we still owe our March 1, 2916 payment.. I cannot believe any company can be this inept.. How on earth can they continue to make mistakes like this? Do I need to make sure the payment never arrives before the actual payment due date so no one there gets confused??

This is just unbelievable. And now the stress starts again.. I have emailed them about this and also called DeNeene about this, but considering her voice mail starts out with a message saying it's Dec. 28 and she'll be out of the office until Jan.

4, I'm not so sure she actually checks her voice mail...

I will continue to try and get ahold of her, or get someone to fix this latest error.. I am just in shock that this HUGE company cannot even handle a simple thing like applying a customers payment correctly.

After a very "testy" conversation with DeNeene, Liaison for the President of PHH on 2/11/16, I was sure we were in for a nightmare. But to her credit, by Tuesday, 2/16/16, our account was brought up to date and I received a phone call from her apologizing for all of this, telling me the account was up to date, that it was a mistake of PHH, and we will have no more problems..

But they can be assured, I will be checking our account weekly from now on just to make sure no one has made an error like this again.. This was a terribly stressful 6 weeks for us.

We are not people who receive default notifications, charged late fees, get nasty phone calls about bills, etc.. This was a new experience for us, and one we do not ever want to go through again..

As others have mentioned, we too had a payment end up in a "suspense payment".. I am 61 years young and my husband is 72.

Neither one of us have ever heard of such a thing. As it turns out, someone at PHH applied the payment we made in November to our Dec.1 payment (correctly) but then applied our next payment to the Dec.1 payment again! (made Dec.20 for our Jan.1 payment). So their records show we made two payments on the Dec.1 payment and are behind on our Jan.1 payment..

I hope that makes sense reading it, because quite frankly, it makes NO sense.. How can a mortgage company be so inept? We have dealt with these people for 11 years, have had to argue with them about our escrow account pretty much yearly, but this is the worst screw up we've ever witnessed from a finance company.

We are now receiving daily calls from foreign reps offering to take a "courtesy payment" over the phone. We keep telling them we are not behind on our payments but they just keep insisting we are..

On top of that, they don't want to talk to me (the wife), they want to talk to my husband, who gets on the phone and tells them to talk to me, he doesn't deal with the bills.. We also received a "default" letter from them. I called them, was sent to a foreign country, told them I would like to speak to an American, they gave me a number to call, I called, the American rep said she couldn't help me, she'd need to transfer me. I asked her if she was transferring me to an American, she said she had no idea.

I told her I can't understand the foreign reps and I need someone I can communicate with to get this straightened out. She said all she could do is transfer me.. I ended up getting someone in Pakistan (she told me where she was when I asked), I asked her to please transfer me to an American, as I was having a hard time understanding her. She transfered me, but I still got a foreign rep, however, I could understand her, although the connection was horrible.

I explained to her what was going on, she looked at our files and said, oh, I see what you're saying.. She put me on hold and came back and said she'd made a "request" for the situation to be straightened out. I asked why she didnt' just fix it. She said she couldn't.

She also told me it would hopefully be resolved in 7 days, but they have a long backlog, so it could take up to 60 days!!!!! Are you kidding me? I asked her what we're suppose to do when our account gets sent to the credit bureau or we start getting foreclosure letters. She said they will be happy to resolve all that when it gets straightened out..

Again, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That was a few days ago and since, we have recieved daily calls from forgeign reps, over and over again, wanting payments. We obviously have just stopped answering their calls, but what happens if this doens't get resolved? We're ready to buy a yurt and live off the grid..

These companies have gone from being a local bank holding your mortgage to companies being run by who knows who in who knows what country.

This is crazy!!!! The American dream has become the American nightmare...

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

PHH Mortgage Cons: Incomptence, That they want me to pay for their mistake, Foreign reps, Impossible to talk to an american, Inability to correct issues immediately.

Location: Roscommon, Michigan

I'll tell you, you lose your home, we did, 8yrs of fighting, we are in Michigan too, contact DJ Pascoe at the MI AG's office and Joe Iasso at the NJ Attorney Generals office. This is a predatory lender and needs to be put down.

Contact your local reps, I contacted Rep.

William Huizenga, also call or write to the Consumers Protection Bureau, they have a ton of complaints already. Good luck and do not let them *** over...we are 60 also and have no home because of them.

Sure, first it was the escrow, raised our payments $200/month for a $500 shortage, we weren't short at all, then, sold us to Chase Bank, Chase did awesome, applied all payments, corrected payments, then sold us back to those bastards at PHH, in 2008 after being back five months Renard Foxworth told us we owed $15,000 in back payments, I had proven we didn't, from that point, all payments were screwed, not applied, hired an attorney, contacted NJ AG's office, Joseph Iasso is his name, call him. The NJ AG's office fined PHH they received a $6.25 million fine, we received a little bit, not enough to help with what they did, then they slid us through to foreclosure and eviction, those rat bastards, took about $35,000 from us, and our home, then offered us to buy it back and sign a document to not sue them or hold them accountable...anger, rage, hate, those are my feelings, if you can re-fi, do it now.

Oh my!!! Rat bastards does seem like an appropriate name for them!

Scarry stuff.. I have written them a letter with documentation, showing that we are not late on a payment. I also told them if it's not straightened out ASAP, my first call with be to the attorny general in NJ, and that I think they'll be interested in knowing that PHH is still using "questionable practices", since they've been under investigation since 2011.. You know, when we first took out a mortgage with them in 2005, they were based out of Texas and every time I called there, I reached an American.

Was it sold to a foreign based company sometimes between then and now? I am so tired of having to try and discuss important issues with people who do not speak English and communication is impossible..

email me at kmengvall@***.net...we need all the help we can get, there's a class action attorney in Wisconsin asking for all information and then he is going to determine whether he is taking the case. However, you contact Joe Iasso today, do not wait and you are wasting your time mailing copies, they don't care, they have you in the foreclosure/eviction system and that's where you are heading, get some help now.

Also, contact DJ Pascoe in the MI AG's office.

it would be nice, to see a detail on the complaints. we're you deliquent on the loan?

Please reread my complaint.. I stated that we were never deliquent on our payment.

We have never made a late payment, and in fact, have paid our payments about 2 weeks early for the life of the loan...

After PHH finally straightened out our payments, I realized our principal balance paid for 2016 was incorrect. They showed we had a negative amount for principal paid.. I contacted them and recieved a reply from a woman named "Ruth" (from PHH), telling me I was absolutely correct, our principal paid should obviously not be a negative amount.

She gave me the correct figures and said it would take a few cycles to straighten itself out..

After a few cycles, it was still incorrect, so I contacted her again to tell her it still was not straightened out. She wrote, apologizing, telling me it would be straightened out by 8am the next morning, which it was..

But honestly, what a headache!

What a mess! Why was it so difficult to get a company to correct their mistake? I know people don't want to believe company's actually make these mistakes, or worse, think people who write complaints like this are just exagerrating or not admitting their part in the problem, but that is not what happened here.

This company made an incredibly *** error which caused us months of stress trying to get someone, ANYONE, to fix their mistake.. All we did was pay our payment early every single month..
